622 Proud Mare E.jpg

There's nothing like watching Nevada's wild mustangs roam free in the high desert of the Great Basin. This image was taken at the southern end of Walker Lake where a band of wild mustangs were browsing. Early in the morning, after the annual Loon Festival, I ventured to the edge of Walker Lake and found the band of mustangs. There were about 25 horses with a couple of young. I spent an hour or so watching and photographing the band. Finally, I was able to get this nice portrait of a proud mom as she showed off her young foal.
