053 Fish Croissant.jpg

The coastal Grizzly Bear is larger than his cousin from the interior because of the abundant source of protein available in the form of salmon. During the Salmon spawning season bears congregate at the rivers and falls to fill themselves with this high protein diet. I have witnessed one bear catch and eat 15 - 7 to 8 lb. salmon within 45 minutes. That's over 100 lbs. of fish! Some bears have different fishing techniques but most will try their luck by standing at the top of the falls waiting for a salmon to jump close enough for them to catch it with their mouths. This one didn't get away.
