137 Polar Hug.jpg

While photographing polar bears I am always near, or in, a vehicle. This is partially due to the extreme cold. It was so cold during this shoot that my film broke inside my camera and I had to replace the batteries every time I shot a roll of film. Also, polar bears are very curious and have no fear, and that makes them dangerous. Luckily, these bears aren't paying much attention to me as they play, but others have walked right up to me to see what I was or what I was doing. These two bears are about 4 or 5 years old and are probably siblings that have been playing with each other since birth. They spend countless hours wrestling while they wait for winter to set in.
