I spent many nights camping in Yosemite Valley when I was younger but had never seriously photographed it. I made two trips in 1996 to see if I could find a special image. This image was made during my second trip in May. It was right after the big flood. The storm had lifted but there were still occasional showers that would add drama to the valley. This image was made from the popular viewpoint near the tunnel in the late afternoon. It had just rained and the sun was playing hide and seek with the clouds. The warmth of the sun created a mist which lifted from the valley floor creating this ethereal view of Yosemite Valley.
