There's nothing like watching Nevada's wild mustangs roam free in the high desert of the Great Basin. This image was taken at the southern end of Walker Lake where a band of wild mustangs were browsing. Early in the morning, after the annual Loon Festival, I ventured to the edge of Walker Lake and found the band of mustangs. There were about 25 horses with a couple of young. I spent an hour or so watching and photographing the band as they moved from one feeding area to another. Every once in a while a skirmish would break out and two or more mustangs would show how wild they are.
