Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe, CA is one of the most photographed places in the world. On July 18th, 1991 a storm passed over Lake Tahoe creating one of the most memorable sunsets in recent history. I was not near the Lake during this spectacle but decided that the following night I would go to Emerald Bay in hopes of a repeat performance. The next night I set up my camera at Emerald Bay and waited. The skies were flat gray, a little lightning, and at times heavy rain, but no spectacular sunset. It was getting late and I was about to give up hope when the skies exploded with colors I have seldom seen, along with a rainbow! This scene only lasted 45 seconds!
