While photographing polar bears I am always near, or in, a vehicle. This is partially due to the extreme cold. Also, polar bears are very curious and have no fear, and that makes them dangerous. Luckily, these bears aren't paying much attention to me, in fact, this mother would bring her cubs close to my vehicle anytime a male bear would wander too close.
Last winter these siblings were born in a den not far from Churchill. Growing mainly on their mom's milk they now wait for their next lesson in survival. In the few months to come they will learn to hunt, and by next winter will be on their own.
